“Warehouse – Not Just a Storage”: NIIE Students Explore Warehouse Management with Decathlon Expert

As part of the International Logistics course, students from the NTT Institute of International Education (NIIE) recently joined the workshop “Warehouse – Not Just a Storage”—a practical learning session that offered real-world insights into warehouse operations, one of the most crucial links in today’s modern supply chain.

The workshop was led by Mr. Huynh Nhat Tuan, MSc, Production Quality Manager / Lab Manager at Decathlon Vietnam, who brings over 10 years of experience. He has previously held roles such as Management Trainee, Costing – Development – Quality Leader, and Production Quality Manager at various global buyer offices. With his multi-disciplinary, hands-on background, Mr. Tuan provided students with an authentic and practical perspective on how global enterprises manage their warehouse systems.

During the session, he emphasized that warehouses are not just storage spaces—they are the coordination hubs of product flow, where data, technology, and processes come together to ensure goods reach the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost. Students were introduced to essential topics such as warehouse quality management, the connection between warehouse operations and the broader supply chain, and cost–optimization strategies to increase profitability.

Using visual materials from the workshop, students explored modern warehouse operation models, including how companies organize space, manage inventory, distribute manpower, and apply Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to reduce errors and speed up processing. Practical insights shared from Decathlon helped students understand why warehouses hold a strategic role in improving overall supply chain efficiency.

The workshop concluded on a high note with an open Q&A session, where students asked about career opportunities, required skill sets, and future trends in warehousing. Beyond practical knowledge, the workshop sparked students’ interest in the logistics field—an area filled with promising opportunities in today’s globalized era.

This workshop continues to reinforce NIIE’s Philosophy of Education: Global Learning – Global Success, empowering students with the confidence to thrive in both domestic and international business environments.
