For many students, final exams are often associated with pressure and a strong focus on theory. However, through the workshop “Fall Into Data: Survey – Analysis – Reporting”, held on January 15 and organized by Ms. Tran Hoang Cam Tu, MBA and Mr. Vu Nhat Phuong, MBA—lecturers of the subject—students of the NTT Institute of International Education (NIIE) had the opportunity to approach the Business Statistics course in a more engaging and practical way, by experiencing real-world activities and directly applying what they had learned to specific situations.

The workshop was designed as part of the course assessment, aiming to help students apply theoretical knowledge to real-life contexts rather than limiting evaluation to paper-based exams. Throughout the program, students worked in teams to design survey questionnaires, collect real data on campus, process the data, and present their analytical results in a visual and creative manner.

Through these activities, concepts related to surveying, data analysis, and data processing were no longer abstract. Every figure and statistical table was derived from data collected by the students themselves, helping them better understand the nature of the problems and how theory is applied in practice. As a result, learning became more approachable and engaging, fostering a true sense of “learning by doing” rather than simply studying to complete a course.

In addition to strengthening academic knowledge, the workshop also provided students with opportunities to develop essential skills such as teamwork, task allocation, logical thinking in data analysis, and research presentation skills. Presenting their work on large-format paper further enhanced their ability to organize information and communicate ideas clearly and coherently.

After the hands-on activities, students continued to refine their work in the form of a computer-based final term paper. This step helped bridge practical experience with the academic requirements of the course, while also familiarizing students with the process of developing a complete report with a clear structure and well-defined data foundations.

Through the “Fall Into Data” workshop, the assessment of the Business Statistics course went beyond final results, placing greater emphasis on the learning process and the ability to apply knowledge in practice. As a result, students not only fulfilled course requirements but also gained valuable skills, confidence, and practical thinking—essential foundations for their future academic and professional journeys.
