On the morning of April 16, 2025, at Hall 300A – District 4 Campus, the NTT Institute of International Education – Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NIIE) successfully hosted the Cultural Exchange and Traditional New Year Celebration for Bunpimay (Laos) and Chol Chnam Thmay (Cambodia). The event created a vibrant multicultural space, offering international students at NIIE – NTTU a warm and meaningful opportunity to celebrate the New Year far from home.

A Cultural Bridge in the 26-Year Milestone of the University
As part of the journey toward the 26th anniversary of Nguyen Tat Thanh University (June 5, 1999 – June 5, 2025), the institution continues to stand out not only for its academic excellence but also as a learning environment that celebrates connection and cultural diversity. This cultural exchange event stands as a vivid testament to that commitment, offering a warm and heartfelt space filled with traditional colors for students from across Southeast Asia.

The program was especially honored to welcome representatives from the leadership team of the NTT Institute of International Education – Nguyen Tat Thanh University, along with heads of various departments. Their sincere presence and warm remarks underscored the university’s deep care for the well-being and academic journey of international students, especially during meaningful cultural moments like the traditional New Year.
A Celebration Away from Home, But Full of Love
For international students—particularly those from Laos and Cambodia—celebrating the traditional New Year far from home can often bring feelings of longing. Understanding this, the university coordinated with various departments to organize the event as a heartfelt gift, allowing students to experience the holiday in an authentic, loving, and festive way.

At the event, students not only enjoyed the festive space but also had the chance to connect with international friends and Vietnamese peers. Every activity served as a thread weaving students together, helping them feel the care and companionship of the university on their educational journey in Vietnam.
Cuisine – Performances – Games: A Vivid Cultural Tapestry
One of the highlights of the event was the Lao–Cambodian–Vietnamese fusion cooking competition. Traditional dishes like Laap, Tam Mak Hoong, Nhoam Svay Kchai, Bánh Khọt, Bánh Mì Chảo, and Chân Gà Sả Tắc brought excitement and energy to the atmosphere. Through the talented hands of students, the essence of homeland and cultural identity was authentically and vividly brought to life.

Following the culinary showcase was a traditional performance segment where international students sang and danced to folk-inspired melodies. The vibrant rhythms and roaring applause blended into a rich cultural mosaic—alive with the spirit of exchange and unity.

Adding to the excitement were a series of lively mini-games. Beyond being entertaining, these games brought students from the three countries closer through joyful, interactive moments—laughing, playing, and understanding each other more deeply. This spirit of bonding and harmony added an emotional and meaningful layer to the event.

Connection, Sharing – Spreading Positivity
Filled with music, meaningful moments, and bright smiles, the Cultural Exchange and Traditional New Year Celebration for Laos – Cambodia 2025 was one of the most memorable highlights of April at NIIE.

More than just a festive gathering, the event helped international students feel a genuine sense of belonging and love from their academic home. This is the humanistic spirit that the NTT Institute of International Education – Nguyen Tat Thanh University always strives to preserve and promote.
