In the rapidly developing tech era, businesses constantly seek more effective ways to optimize their software development processes. DevOps (Development and Operations) emerged as a perfect solution, combining software development (Dev) and system operations (Ops). DevOps is not just a process but also a philosophy that helps teams in businesses collaborate more closely, minimize conflicts, automate repetitive tasks, and quickly deliver products to users.
In reality, many companies face difficulties in shortening product development time, ensuring software quality, and responding to system failures. These are the very issues that the workshop “DevOps and the Journey to the Cloud” addresses, providing a comprehensive and practical perspective for Information Technology students at NIIE.
The workshop was led by Nguyen Hoang Duy, DevOps Engineer at Galaxy Finx Joint Stock Company – an expert with many years of experience in the fields of DevOps and Cloud computing. With deep knowledge and a relatable teaching style, Duy made it easier for students to grasp seemingly complex concepts, while also inspiring them to explore the potential of DevOps in real-world working environments.
The workshop focused on explaining what DevOps is and how it transforms traditional workflows in the technology industry. DevOps helps shorten development times, ensure software quality, and increase the ability to respond to system failures. Duy also emphasized the importance of cloud computing – an essential component of modern DevOps.
Students were guided through the following topics in detail:
- DevOps Process: Optimizing the development, testing, and deployment chain through automation.
- Popular DevOps Tools: Introduction to Jenkins and Terraform – two essential tools for building automation systems and deploying on cloud platforms like AWS.
- Cloud Computing: Learning how Cloud technology helps businesses optimize resources, scale efficiently, and ensure system stability.
- Practical Hands-on Experience: Students directly experienced automation deployment steps, connecting theory with practice in a dynamic way.
Especially, the mini-game and live demo on Automating Deployment with DevOps brought a lively atmosphere and helped students reflect on the overall content of the workshop, take notes on essential points, and understand how to flexibly apply theory to practice effectively.
The “DevOps and the Journey to the Cloud” workshop not only provided technical knowledge but also opened a new and promising path in modern technology. The lessons learned from this workshop will serve as valuable tools to help NIIE students confidently enter the workforce with an innovative mindset, a spirit of collaboration, and high adaptability.
