The Green Choice project, representing the NTT Institute of International Education (NIIE) at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, made an outstanding mark at the Food Innovation and Development (FID) 2024 competition by winning First Prize in the Problem-Solving Innovation category. Furthermore, the project was honoured with the Business Choice Award, affirming its high evaluation from experts and businesses regarding its feasibility and growth potential.

FID 2024 is a nationwide competition that gathers creative ideas in food technology, biotechnology, and post-harvest technology. The program attracted participation from over 27 universities, colleges, and leading organisations supporting entrepreneurship. This was not only a platform for creative minds but also a chance to connect with experts, businesses, and international investors.

The Green Choice project from NIIE – NTTU students stood out with its innovative idea: harnessing the full value of durian to address agricultural waste issues while creating high-value products that meet domestic and international demand. The products from the project include:
- Freeze-dried durian and freeze-dried durian powder preserve all the nutrients and natural flavour.
- Organic fertiliser made from durian husks, treated with biological agents to speed up decomposition, improve soil quality, and provide crop nutrition.
The creativity and high practical application of Green Choice ultimately convinced the judging panel, helping the project secure First Prize in the Problem-Solving Innovation category. Furthermore, the Business Choice Award is a testament to businesses’ recognition of the project’s quality and commercialisation potential.

The success of Green Choice is not only a source of pride for the students but also a clear reflection of the educational philosophy “Real Learning – Real Success – Real Prestige – Real Future” of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. This project is not only academic but also focused on real-world, sustainable values, which are highly appreciated by businesses at this year’s competition. The Business Choice Award further affirms confidence in Green Choice’s potential for application and opens up opportunities for collaboration, product commercialisation, and disseminating sustainable values to the community. Who knows, in the future, products like freeze-dried durian or organic fertiliser from durian husks might appear on supermarket shelves or be exported to international markets?
With its current achievements, Green Choice has the motivation and confidence to break through in future competitions at higher levels. Let’s continue to follow and support Green Choice!!! 🌱💡
