Not everyone has the opportunity to stand on a big stage and share their own story. But for Shao Di Tam and Sinxay Chanvathong—two students from NIIE Institute – Nguyen Tat Thanh University—this was not just an experience, but a memorable milestone in their journey of growth.

At TEDxNTT University 2026 with the theme “Unscripted”, the two students brought forward perspectives that were truly Gen Z—authentic, relatable, and thought-provoking. Their stories touched on facing pressure in the digital age, invisible social norms, and the uncertainty that often comes with stepping into adulthood. Above all, what Tam and Sinxay conveyed was not just about challenges, but about how young people learn to understand themselves, embrace change, and seize opportunities.

Sharing the stage with experienced and distinguished speakers such as Dr. Luu Nguyen Duc Hanh – Vice Head of the Faculty of Nursing and Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Office at NTTU, Mr. Alexandre Truong – Marketing expert, Ms. Hien Nguyen – Pathology Technician at Grand Junction Community Hospital (Colorado, USA), Ms. Ha Thao Trang – Editor and young producer at Vietnam Today, and Mr. Ho Kinh Dat – CEO of Datio English, this was clearly a significant challenge for the two NIIE students. However, it also became an opportunity for them to develop confidence, critical thinking, and the courage to express personal viewpoints.

To confidently step onto the TEDx stage, both Shao Di Tam and Sinxay Chanvathong have built impressive personal journeys. Shao Di Tam has achieved notable academic accomplishments, including First Prize at the R&D Innovation Award at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (2024), Second Prize at the VietFuture Award 2024, Third Prize at UNIVSTAR 2024, and First Prize in NIIE Scientific Research 2024. These achievements reflect strong research capabilities, creative thinking, and perseverance in pursuing academic excellence.
Meanwhile, Sinxay Chanvathong is also a prominent figure in the international student community at NTTU. He has been honored three times as an Outstanding Lao and Cambodian Student in Ho Chi Minh City, and recognized as an Outstanding International Student (2023–2025). In addition, Sinxay represented the university at the Regen Asia Summit 2025 at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and won Best Presentation Award at the 8th International Student Science Forum 2024. These international experiences have helped him build a solid foundation in academic thinking, presentation skills, and adaptability in multicultural environments.

Sharing after the event, Shao Di Tam said: “I would like to thank NIIE Institute – Nguyen Tat Thanh University for providing me with a strong foundation and opportunities to participate in scientific research competitions, startup activities, and major academic events like TEDxNTT University 2026.”

It can be said that appearing on the TEDx stage is not merely about delivering a talk—it is the result of a long journey of learning, experience, and personal development. And sometimes, simply having the courage to step onto the stage and share your own story is already a significant step forward for every young person on the journey of self-discovery and shaping their future.
