Stepping beyond the classroom, as part of the Macroeconomics course, nearly 150 students from NIIE Institute – Nguyen Tat Thanh University participated in an insightful field trip in March to FPT Securities Joint Stock Company (FPTS). This visit offered students a valuable opportunity to better understand business operations, economics–finance, and the field they are pursuing.
During the visit, students were introduced to FPTS—a securities company under FPT Corporation, established in 2007, operating across various areas such as brokerage, investment advisory, and corporate capital mobilization support. Through presentations from company representatives, students gained a clearer picture of how a securities firm operates, different job roles, and what the real working environment in finance looks like compared to expectations.
In addition, the session on macroeconomics helped students approach knowledge in a more accessible and practical way. Instead of abstract theories, experts connected concepts to real-world developments such as interest rate fluctuations, global economic conditions, and recent stock market movements. This allowed students to better understand how macro-level factors influence businesses, stock prices, and investment decisions.
After the trip, what students gained was not only new knowledge but also a more realistic perspective on the finance industry. Many began to better understand the purpose of their studies, future career paths, and what they need to prepare from now on. Moreover, direct interaction with a real enterprise helped students feel more confident about entering the professional working environment.
Experiences like this are an integral part of the learning journey at NIIE Institute, where education goes beyond theory and is closely connected with practice—helping students gradually understand their field and define a clearer direction for their future.
