On September 28, 2024, the NTT Institute of International Education (NIIE) at Nguyen Tat Thanh University held an Orientation Day for new E-Commerce students, featuring Dr. Bui Van Thoi, Head of the E-Commerce Department, and Ms. Truong Phuong Thoa, Director of the Southern E-Commerce Center at OSB Group, Alibaba’s authorized agent in Vietnam.
Overview of the E-Commerce Department at NIIE
Dr. Bui Van Thoi kicked off the event with a comprehensive introduction to the E-Commerce program at NIIE, highlighting the rapid global growth and future trends of the industry. He emphasized that E-Commerce presents significant opportunities for those passionate about entrepreneurship and eager to explore a dynamic, innovative business environment.
Dr. Thoi also outlined the learning outcomes of the E-Commerce program at NIIE, which equip students to:
- Apply knowledge from natural sciences, social sciences, technology, law, and management to solve practical problems in E-Commerce.
- Utilize new technologies in management, online marketing, and developing E-Commerce strategies for businesses.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively in a digital and globalized environment, mastering essential analytical, creative, and lifelong learning skills.
Moreover, the program is designed with a curriculum that progresses from foundational to specialized courses, helping students acquire crucial skills such as programming, web development, digital marketing, and information systems management. Additionally, students undergo enhanced English training across six levels, with a graduated requirement of B2 (IELTS 5.5 – 6.0), ensuring NIIE E-Commerce graduates are well-prepared to take on the global stage.
Unlocking Career Potential: How to Keep Up with the World’s Pace
Following Dr. Thoi, Ms. Truong Phuong Thoa, a consultant with over 12 years of experience in online export, delivered insightful remarks on the current state and workforce demand in Vietnam’s E-Commerce sector. According to her, Vietnam’s E-Commerce market reached USD 20.5 billion in 2023, growing at 81%, making it the second-largest in Southeast Asia. This explosive growth reflects a vast demand for talent in this field.
Ms. Thoa also touched on emerging trends in E-Commerce, particularly the rise of B2B and B2C commerce. Additionally, she highlighted the continued expansion of technologies such as AI, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), and live-stream selling, all creating numerous career opportunities for E-Commerce graduates. Regarding job prospects, Ms. Thoa noted that graduates in E-Commerce can pursue a wide range of roles, from managing E-Commerce platforms and data analysis to app development and security consulting. She also encouraged students to confidently pursue entrepreneurship in the auspicious E-Commerce environment.
The Orientation Day provided NIIE’s new students with an overview of the E-Commerce sector, helping them gain a clearer understanding of its growth potential, career opportunities, and emerging trends.
