On August 2, NIIE students had an incredibly interesting and beneficial visit to the Vietnam International Logistics Exhibition 2024 (VILOG 2024). This activity served as a bridge to help students narrow the gap between theory and practice, gain a deeper understanding of the industry’s potential and opportunities, and especially get acquainted with new technologies in the fields of logistics and supply chain management.
VILOG 2024 is the only international logistics exhibition in Vietnam, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, directed by the Import and Export Department, and co-organized by the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), a national association with a 30-year history. With over 400 booths, VILOG 2024 showcased various sectors and aspects of logistics, such as Transport & Forwarding; Packaging & Cold Storage Technology; Logistics Services & Applications; Information Technology: E-logistics, Intralogistics, and more. The exhibition’s diversity, internationalization, and technological advancement helped students bridge the gap between theory and practice, gain a clearer understanding of the industry, and especially get acquainted with the latest global technologies in logistics.
Upon entering the exhibition, NIIE students were immediately captivated by the dynamic atmosphere and numerous models and equipment to explore and experience. They felt the event’s vibrant and enthusiastic energy, characteristic of the logistics industry—always fresh, passionate, and inspiring. Students had the opportunity to recall theoretical knowledge and see its application in real-world services and jobs, from common to specialized aspects of the industry. They were introduced to and familiarized with machinery such as forklifts, conveyors, rolling doors, security and surveillance systems, and automated production and packaging processes. The students’ proactive engagement was evident as they asked questions to delve deeper into topics of interest. In response to their initiative and curiosity, industry professionals provided candid and sincere advice and insights, sparking inspiration and passion for pursuing careers in logistics.
Notably, NIIE students not only visited but also experienced the latest technologies in the logistics industry, some of which are not yet widespread in Vietnam. For example, Vision Picking from DHL—a cutting-edge smart glasses technology that makes warehouse management easy, intelligent, and hands-free. Another technology from DHL, though not new but still highly promising, is the Shelf to Person—high-capacity load robots that enhance efficiency in unloading and organizing warehouse goods. Additionally, many green technology products help optimize the operational efficiency of logistics and supply chain management.
Sharing their thoughts on the visit, NIIE students said the exhibition provided valuable and unique information and knowledge. They realized that logistics is a vast, potential, and dynamic industry. Moreover, the visit gave them access to new technologies not often encountered in classroom learning or company visits. This was indeed a valuable opportunity, broadening their horizons and inspiring and providing a more precise career direction.
