On July 11, NIIE hosted the workshop “Career Opportunities in Automotive Engineering Technology,” featuring many experienced experts and guests from the industry. This event aimed to provide students, especially third and fourth-year students preparing for internships and career development, with a practical and in-depth look at career opportunities in automotive engineering technology.
Representing the university at the workshop were: Dr. Nguyen Manh Hoang, Deputy Director of NIIE; Dr. Duong Hoang Long, Head of the Automotive Engineering Technology Department at NIIE; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tan, MSc, Lecturer in Automotive Engineering Technology at NIIE; and Mr. Phi Van Cuong, MSc, Lecturer in Automotive Engineering Technology at NIIE.
NIIE was honored to welcome the following distinguished industry experts and business leaders in automotive engineering technology: Mr. Cao Van Phong, General Director of Thanh Phong Auto Co., Ltd.; Mr. Ho Phi Long, Director of the Automotive Technical Training Center at Thanh Phong Auto; and Mr. Tran Van Khanh, General Director of Saigon Tech Education Co., Ltd.

Dr. Duong Hoang Long began the workshop by stating, “Although NIIE annually organizes Orientation Days to introduce and guide new students in their careers, the industry trends change every year. Therefore, to help third and fourth-year students best prepare for their internships and future careers, NIIE organized this workshop to provide a clearer and more detailed picture of the industry and to open up practical opportunities.”

Mr. Cao Van Phong: Entrepreneurial Journey and the Potential of the Automotive Industry
Mr. Cao Van Phong, General Director of Thanh Phong Auto Co., Ltd., shared an intriguing story about his entrepreneurial journey and building the Thanh Phong Auto brand. With over 11 years of experience in car repair and improvement, Mr. Phong offered practical insights into managing and developing a business, demonstrating that skilled technicians can also become successful entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the CEO of Thanh Phong Auto provided an overview of the industry’s potential. With an annual growth rate of 20-30% and a growing car culture in Vietnam, he affirmed that job opportunities in this industry are vast and diverse. Students can choose various career paths such as design, maintenance, improvement, assembly, production, and research.

Mr. Ho Phi Long: Employer Requirements and Essential Skills
Mr. Ho Phi Long, with his experience as both a seasoned expert and an educator, shared practical insights into employer requirements. He emphasized that technical knowledge alone is not enough. To secure a good job in a competitive market, students need additional soft skills, a good work attitude, the ability to handle pressure, and especially proficiency in English. English is the “language” engineers use to “communicate” with cars, helping technicians delve into hardware and software to identify and repair issues accurately and allowing professionals to stay updated with the latest industry knowledge and technology.

Mr. Tran Van Khanh: Job Opportunities in Japan and Special Offers from Guest Speakers
Mr. Tran Van Khanh, General Director of Saigon Tech Education, expanded NIIE students’ horizons regarding the job market and career opportunities in the automotive field in Japan—one of the world’s leading car manufacturing countries with many famous brands. Furthermore, the CEO of Saigon Tech presented opportunities for studying and interning in Japan, enabling students to access advanced technologies, learn the latest automotive innovations, and experience a professional and rigorous work environment.

At the end of the workshop, five actively participating students received scholarships from Thanh Phong Auto for advanced training courses to update their skills and meet high standards in maintenance, repair, and car improvement. Additionally, valuable scholarships for Japanese language courses from Saigon Tech Education were also awarded.

The workshop offered information, knowledge, experience, and valuable opportunities to help students achieve their dreams.
