Innovative, technically sophisticated, and full of forward-thinking spirit — that’s what the recent graduation project defense of Automotive Engineering students at the NTT Institute of International Education (NIIE) proudly showcased. More than just a final assessment, it was a “racing track” where students unleashed their engineering mindset, problem-solving abilities, and real-world understanding of the ever-evolving automotive industry.
Project Review Panel

The project defense was evaluated by a panel of expert lecturers and industry specialists with high-level expertise and rich experience in teaching and engineering practice: – Dr. Duong Hoang Long – Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology at NTTU, Head of Automotive Engineering at NIIE – Dr. Luong Hung Truyen – Automotive Engineering Lecturer – Dr. Kieu Ngoc Dich Vu, Mr. Dang Quoc Cuong, MSc – Deputy Head of the Automotive Engineering Department – Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, MSc and Mr. Le Van Thoai, MSc – Automotive Engineering Lecturers.
The panel’s constructive and insightful feedback not only helped students refine their projects but also equipped them with valuable knowledge for their future careers.
A Diversity of Topics – Fresh Perspectives

This year’s project topics reflected a variety of interests and fresh approaches. Students tackled practical innovations such as Voice Alert Brake System Design and Simulation, Integrated Brake–Suspension–Steering Systems, and clean energy-focused studies like Evaluating Bio-Alcohol Fuel Blends and The Impact of Hydrogen on Diesel Engine Performance and Emissions. Each project highlighted students’ ability to bridge theoretical understanding with hands-on technical application.

Several other projects focused on green technologies, such as Regenerative Braking Systems for Electric Motorcycles, Battery Cooling Optimization via Flow Simulation, and Electric Vehicle Simulation Using MATLAB Simulink. These demonstrated students’ growing awareness of the future of the industry, where energy transformation and digitalization are key.
Engineering Meets Business – Igniting Entrepreneurial Spirit
Beyond technical modeling, some projects stood out for their entrepreneurial approach, integrating business insights into engineering solutions. One notable example was the Design of a Compact Auto Service Workshop (150–250m²), which offered a smart solution by analyzing spatial limitations, calculating operating costs, and optimizing both technical and business aspects. This entrepreneurial outlook demonstrates that engineering students are well-equipped to transition into management and service operations — a vital skill for aspiring business owners in the field.
Presentation Skills – Confident, Professional, and Bilingual
A standout feature of the defense sessions was students’ ability to deliver their presentations fluently in both English and Vietnamese. They showcased not only technical mastery but also a clear, confident, and logical delivery. From problem statements and simulation results to data analysis and rebuttals, everything reflected meticulous preparation and a strong academic attitude.

According to the review panel, the projects were well-targeted, industry-relevant, and aligned with current trends. Many effectively applied their technical knowledge to real-world challenges, while others demonstrated innovation, awareness of green technology, and a deep understanding of simulation software. The defense marked a significant milestone, reflecting students’ growth in technical capacity, analytical thinking, communication, and a forward-looking attitude.
A Major Milestone in the Pursuit of Engineering Passion
The graduation defense was not only the conclusion of students’ academic journey at NIIE, but also a launching pad for their future careers. The ideas, presentations, and energy on display were a testament to their initiative, practical application, and ambition to make their mark in the automotive engineering field.

Armed with deep technical knowledge, strong English skills, logical thinking, and relentless creativity, NIIE graduates are well-prepared to take on the next big challenges in the modern automotive industry, where technology, environment, and people come together to shape the future.
