It is worth noting that Di Tam speaks proficiently in Chinese and got a 7.5 IELTS score in English. 1/ Could you introduce yourself and extend greetings to all the lecturers and students of NIIE?
Hello to all the lecturers and students. My name is Shao Di Tam, a student majoring in Business Administration at NTT International Institute of Education (NIIE) Class 23.
2/ Being the Top-Ranked Student is quite an achievement. Could you share your thoughts on attaining this achievement?
Being the Top-Ranked Student is a source of immense personal pride and encourages future accomplishments. Honestly, when I found out, it was surprising and felt unreal. But after confirming it, the happiness and fulfillment were overwhelming.
3/ Why did you choose NIIE – Nguyen Tat Thanh University for your studies?
My family and relatives suggested NIIE – NTTU to me. I was highly impressed by the International Standard Bachelor’s program and the bilingual education offered here. I’ve always understood the importance of languages, especially English, so NIIE’s program was my top choice. Also, the tuition fees here suit my family’s budget. Lastly, the proximity of NIIE to my homemade commuting is easy.
4/ You’ve spent almost a semester at NIIE. What are your thoughts on the learning experience?
My time at NIIE has been delightful and inspiring. The most remarkable aspect for me has been the friendly and approachable nature of the lecturers. Their teaching style and close communication make them feel like companions, breaking the barriers between us and making learning more comfortable and enjoyable. Even though my time here has just begun, it means a lot to me.
5/ Top-Ranked Students usually have effective study secrets. Could you share a bit about yours?
My study secret isn’t extraordinary; it’s about balancing study and leisure. Discipline, consistency, and a balance between study and fun are crucial. For me, dedicating 2-3 hours to studying daily and then indulging in activities that destress me and bring joy make studying meaningful. It’s like a reward after completing tasks, mostly gaming, drawing, meeting friends, or joining extracurricular activities.
6/ You achieved an impressive 7.5 in IELTS. Could you share your motivation and the key to achieving proficiency in English?
For me, staying motivated to learn English is crucial. I’ve seen friends give up midway, mainly because they lost interest. So, fostering a genuine interest in the language is the first step. My second secret is creating an English-speaking environment to immerse myself as much as possible. I strive to communicate in English for about 90% of my day. Fortunately, I have a small group of friends who primarily converse in English, allowing me to practice regularly.
7/ Could you share a bit about your life motto? A quote that motivates you during tough times.
My life motto is “You only live once.”Indeed! We only live once, so our life journey and experiences must be lived to the fullest, truly embracing every second and minute bestowed upon us. Moreover, whenever I feel scared or want to give up, I think of this quote as a reflective mirror where, compared to the fact that we only live once, the current difficulties are negligible. Therefore, this quote holds great significance for me.
8/ Thank you for sharing. Lastly, could you reveal a bit about your future plans and dreams?
At the moment, my primary goal is to successfully complete my academic journey at NIIE. Looking further ahead, I hope to use my knowledge and language skills to contribute to the community. Who knows, I might even venture into starting a startup, considering my business studies. *Laughs*
