On April 24th, the Freshmen of K23 at the NTT International Education Institute (NIIE) had an insightful and exciting field trip to Heineken Vietnam – one of the largest and most modern breweries in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, to learn about factory management, business administration, and gradually get acquainted with the multinational corporate culture.
During this inspiring trip, the Freshmen of NIIE K23 were introduced to and shared about the development journey of Heineken – a brand with over 150 years of history, popular in 192 countries. Since its presence in Vietnam in 1991, Heineken has become a prominent name and marked an important milestone, celebrating 30 years of development alongside Vietnam. Fresh from their studies, NIIE students on the field trip stepped into one of the largest Heineken breweries in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, which operates with 100% automation.
Not only experiencing the actual brewing, fermentation, and packaging areas, NIIE students were also introduced to the standard brewing process from Heineken. Additionally, they got to “see with their own eyes, touch with their own hands” the hops, malt, and barley – the ingredients to create a complete batch of beer. Especially, NIIE students also “visited” the Cold Fermentation area (Tank in Box), the only one in Vietnam & Asia-Pacific region. A fun remark from the Heineken tour guide was that students would get a free trip to Da Lat because the temperature in the Tank in Box area is always maintained at around 10°C. This field trip also brought a lot of new knowledge about factory management, automation; or how Heineken manages its business on a global scale. Present in nearly 200 countries, with a diverse workforce in terms of ethnicity, language, but with a unique culture and management style, Heineken has helped everyone share a common vision and dedicate themselves to the brand.
“Getting real world experiences early is great!” – Comment from the Heineken tour guide upon learning that NIIE students have practical experiences from their first year. This is a characteristic of NIIE’s practical-oriented training model and also a significant advantage for students as they will soon get acquainted with the corporate environment, manufacturing plants, corporate culture to gain more insights, understanding of the industry, working standards, and clearly shape their future careers.
Not only knowledge and experience, this trip also offers an exciting experience as students will get to taste typical products from Heineken. Of course, it will be alcohol-free beer to ensure safe driving. These moments are surely light-hearted, adding to the allure of the trip, right? Which destination do you want to go to next?
