On September 26, the NTT Institute of International Education (NIIE) held an Orientation Day exclusively for new students in the Logistics and Supply Chain Management program. This event marked the starting point, providing students with a clearer understanding of their academic journey, career expectations, and job opportunities post-graduation. The program, led by Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Vice President of Nguyen Tat Thanh University and Director of NIIE, created an incredibly lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.
With deep insight into student needs and a unique approach to addressing issues, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh immediately captured students’ interest by focusing on the potential and career opportunities in Logistics at the beginning of the session. He also introduced students to the website labmovie.ntt.edu.vn, a specialized platform providing detailed labor market information focusing on Logistics and IT in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding provinces. This platform is a valuable tool for students to access job postings, career development pathways, and salary benchmarks within the industry. As an added bonus, labmovie.ntt.edu.vn is a scientific research project under the Lab Movie initiative, designed to transfer technology and provide labor market data based on European standards, funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ program – quite impressive, isn’t it?
In addition, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh emphasized that English proficiency is essential for students to be competitive in the international market. Other skills, such as office computing, communication, responsibility, and self-management, are also key areas of interest for employers. NIIE prides itself on equipping students with not only the technical knowledge but also the soft skills necessary to confidently navigate the global job market. As Dr. Tuan Anh pointed out, students pursuing International Standard Logistics should be ready to “venture into the open seas” with confidence.
NIIE operates under the educational philosophy of “Real Learning – Real Success – Real Prestige – Real Future” and the motto “Global Learning – Global Success.” The training programs are designed to help students not only master specialized knowledge but also develop the essential soft skills. The Institute’s goal is to produce highly qualified, globally-minded professionals.
Real-World Experience Shared by Guest Speaker Ho Phuoc: Inspiring and Insightful
One of the most captivating segments for students was the talk by guest speaker Ho Phuoc, a professional with over 15 years of experience in the Logistics industry. He shared a personal and inspiring story about his career journey, from being a newcomer to achieving remarkable success in the field. Through his ups and downs, he learned and developed, affirming that perseverance and continuous learning are the keys to success.
Mr. Phuoc also ignited students’ passion by recounting fascinating stories about the history of the Logistics industry, predicting future trends, and clarifying fundamental concepts such as Forwarding, In-house Logistics, Logistics in Service, Retailer, and E-commerce.
He also shared valuable advice on choosing a specialization within the Logistics field based on one’s strengths and capabilities. He provided a detailed explanation of career levels, from recent graduates to senior management positions. His real-world stories about his path to success fueled students’ motivation and helped them gain a clearer vision of their future careers.
During the Q&A session, many students raised questions about choosing a career path and the skills needed to succeed in the Logistics industry. Ho Phuoc encouraged students to proactively seek knowledge and gain experience from their first year in university. He stressed that developing skills such as communication, time management, teamwork, and critical thinking is crucial in this field. Phuoc also shared that success in the Logistics industry comes not only from specialized knowledge but also from a deep understanding of corporate culture, the ability to solve problems flexibly, and maintaining a professional attitude at work.
The Orientation Day for new Logistics and Supply Chain Management students at NIIE not only provided knowledge, experience, and insights but also offered a great source of motivation for students as they pursue their careers. Under the enthusiastic guidance of Dr. Tuan Anh and Ho Phuoc, NIIE’s new students had the opportunity to reflect on themselves, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and choose a suitable career path. These are the “foundation stones” that will help them take confident strides and prepare to thrive in the vibrant Logistics industry. We wish the new students a memorable academic journey and much success at NIIE!
