In the era of booming technology, we cannot deny the incredible benefits of information management systems. However, along with these benefits come inherent risks of complex, difficult-to-control personal data breaches. Attackers not only utilize malicious software and viruses but also employ increasingly sophisticated methods, targeting the psychology of the victims and causing consequences to their personal and organizational assets and reputations. Understanding the importance of this issue, in the Security course, Mr. Luong Tran Ngoc Khiết, M.Sc, the lecturer in charge, invited Mr. Doan Xuan Hien, CEO of DigComp Education, to share insights on the topic “Ensuring Personal Data Security in the Digital Space.”
Speaker Doan Xuan Hien is an expert in cybersecurity, network security, and programming. He has achieved admirable accomplishments as a Global Instructor for Google for Education, CEO/Trainer of DigComp Education. Additionally, he holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from PMI USA and is the Founder of the BOOK!E book community.
To kick off the workshop, Speaker Doan Xuan Hien provided NIIE students with insights into the notion that “there is never absolute safety.” He emphasized the importance of Understanding the nature of the issue – Effective prevention – Timely detection and Scientific remediation. Progressing through each section, he shared insights on various aspects: Why digital spaces are inherently unsafe; Core reasons; Digital footprints; common forms of cyberattacks. Directly linking to reality, he also revealed that modern data breaches are not solely technological but also involve cunning tactics, such as using false information to manipulate public opinion, targeting the psychology of the victims. Especially with the assistance of technologies like voice modification and deepfakes, impersonation has become easier than ever. Alongside risk analysis, Speaker Doan Xuan Hien provided detailed guidance and practical applications to prevent, minimize the risk of attacks, and methods for timely response when personal data is compromised.
“Ensuring Personal Data Security in the Digital Space” marks the first activity in the series of Workshops aimed at enhancing knowledge of Security for second-year students in the Information Technology program at NIIE. The next two Workshops will take place on March 29 and April 6, respectively. Through this Workshop series, NIIE not only imparts practical experiences in Security and broadens students’ perspectives but also nurtures passion for those interested in this promising career path.
