Creative in thought, meticulous in presentation, and sharp in argument—these were the standout qualities at the recent graduation thesis defence held for Accounting students at the NTT Institute of International Education (NIIE). More than a symbolic academic milestone, this was an opportunity for students to demonstrate their maturity and intellectual growth.
The Academic Panel – Guardians of Quality and Integrity
The defence was organised across two panels, composed of experienced and dedicated faculty members in the field of accounting and finance:

- Panel 1 included: Dr. Thai Hong Thuy Khanh – Head of Accounting at NIIE; Mr. Duong Tran Minh Doan, M.Fin – Lecturer at NIIE; and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huong Tra, M.Fin – Head of Academic Affairs at NIIE.

- Panel 2 included: Dr. Nguyen Manh Hoang – Vice Director of NIIE; Mrs. Tran Thi Kim Phuong, M.Fin – Lecturer at NIIE; and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh, MBA – Lecturer at NIIE.
The panel members not only assessed the students’ work with fairness and expertise but also offered deep, constructive feedback to help refine the theses and guide students in future real-world applications.
Real-World Topics – Bridging Academia and Industry
Throughout the session, Accounting students presented topics that addressed pressing issues in corporate finance and accounting. From revenue–cost–profit accounting at companies such as PNJ and HI-FOODS to financial statement analysis and capital planning at enterprises like Nghe An Tea Corporation, Hung Hau Agriculture, and Quang Loc Construction, each thesis served as a practical case study—reflecting the high applicability of NIIE’s training program.

A particularly notable achievement was the use of real financial data and the application of quantitative tools like ROA, ROE, NPV, and IRR. Many students also proposed forecasts and scenario planning—skills not commonly seen at the undergraduate level.

Some groups encountered challenges with their initial assumptions but effectively pivoted by incorporating forecasts and realistic case scenarios, demonstrating flexibility and a strong grasp of applied thinking. Their ability to connect industry context, enterprise reality, and research objectives illustrated a well-developed capacity for critical thinking—an outcome of their training at NIIE.

From the Panel: “Students Understand What They’re Doing—and Why It Matters”
The panels praised the students for their academic integrity and presentation quality. Many theses were impressively crafted, with clearly defined research problems, logical structures, and well-defended arguments. As noted by Dr. Nguyen Manh Hoang, Vice Director of NIIE and Chair of Panel 1:
“This year’s topics showcased a wide range of themes closely tied to industry realities. Students presented their work fluently and confidently, demonstrating both a mastery of their academic content and a clear understanding of their research goals and methodologies. Especially commendable was their flexible use of research methods, multidimensional approach to problem-solving, and logical reasoning. These are testaments to the initiative, resilience, and real-world readiness of our internationally trained Accounting graduates at NIIE.”

In addition, the student’s ability to present fluently in both English and Vietnamese, combined with their polished slides and professional demeanour, left a strong impression. What they demonstrated was not only the result of 3.5 years of academic pursuit but also a solid foundation for their upcoming professional journey.
The Thesis – A Gateway to Their Career Journey
The thesis defence was more than just an academic showcase before graduation—it was a moment for students to express their confidence and passion for accounting, a field that demands precision, logic, and attention to detail. From seemingly dry figures, they told stories about businesses, markets, and futures.

As the session came to an end, each student left with a stronger sense of readiness for the journey ahead—where the knowledge and skills acquired at NIIE will serve as a solid toolkit for thriving in today’s ever-evolving, competitive job market.
