In the vibrant and emotional atmosphere of their final semester, the students of the Hospitality Management program at the NTT Institute of International Education (NIIE) officially entered their graduation thesis defence. This marked not only a major milestone in their academic journey but also an opportunity to showcase their professional thinking and ability to apply knowledge in the rapidly evolving hospitality and tourism industry.

The defence sessions featured a panel of academic experts known for their deep subject knowledge and rich industry experience: Dr. Nguyen Van Hoang, Dr. Nguyen Duong Giang, and Dr. Doan Ngoc Tuan. Thanks to the panel’s dedicated and impartial support, students had the opportunity to demonstrate their serious preparation and persistent efforts throughout the thesis process.

Relevant Topics with a Contemporary Pulse
This year’s thesis topics strongly reflected real-world applicability and aligned with current trends in the hospitality industry. Notable presentations included research on the travel behaviours of younger generations, such as “Factors Influencing the Decision to Choose Homestays in Vung Tau” and “Factors Affecting NIIE Students’ Decisions to Book Rooms via OTAs”—topics that closely mirror today’s travel patterns.

Other presentations, such as “Technology Application in Digital Transformation at Sheraton Hotel” and “Solutions to Improve Service Quality at Parkview Restaurant – New World Saigon Hotel”, showcased students’ ability to approach problems from multiple angles, blending academic theory with industry innovation and digital transformation trends.

Some students chose to tackle human resources and operational management—ever-present challenges in service environments—with topics like “The Impact of Talent Attraction and Retention Strategies in Vietnam’s Hotel Sector” and “Factors Influencing Employee Benefits and Satisfaction at Ming Court Restaurant – Nikko Saigon Hotel”. These topics demonstrated a well-rounded perspective and a clear interest in the human factor—the heart of the service industry.

A Remarkable Learning Journey
Though there were still areas for improvement, the defence sessions clearly reflected the significant growth of NIIE’s Hospitality Management students. They displayed a serious attitude, careful preparation, and professionalism in every presentation and discussion.

Most notably, their fluent bilingual presentations in both English and Vietnamese stood out—an impressive reflection of NIIE’s international-standard training. The panel also praised forward-thinking topics such as green tourism, technology integration in management, and digital booking experiences. These topics showed students’ market awareness and innovative thinking—hallmarks of Gen Z learners.
Closure and New Beginnings
The thesis defence marked more than just the conclusion of an academic journey at NIIE; it was a launching pad for students to transition into the professional world confidently. Through what began as seemingly simple topics, students learned how to frame problems, analyse data, and propose practical solutions.
NIIE firmly believes that with a solid knowledge foundation, a spirit of continuous learning, and the valuable experiences gained from completing their thesis projects, Hospitality Management students are well-equipped to become high-quality professionals, ready to conquer the dynamic challenges of the hospitality industry.
